Jobless Claims Fall to 367K to Kick off May

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims continued to inch away from the dreaded 400,000 mark in May, falling by 1,000 last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

For the week ending May 5, the number of people filing for benefits dropped to 367,000.  The previous week, claims stood at 368,000.

The four-week average also took a dip, decreasing by 5,250 to end at 379,000.
