“Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” “Prometheus” Open Friday


iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted: Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe — who have been attempting to return to the Central Park Zoo in New York City after being shipped to Africa earlier in the series — now find themselves in the midst of a traveling circus in Europe.  Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen and Martin Short lend their voices to the animated film, which is screening in 3D.  Rated PG.

Prometheus: Ridley Scott’s semi-prequel to Alien follows a team of explorers as they use the titular space vessel for a mission to discover the origins of mankind.  Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green star in the film, which is screening in 3D.  Rated R.
