“Madagascar 3” Tops Box Office Again with $35.5 Million


Dreamworks/Paramount(NEW YORK) — It wasn’t a weekend box office for the ages.

Neither Rock of Ages nor the Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy debuted in one of the top two spots.  Instead, the animated film Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted repeated as box office champ, earning an estimated $35.5 million.  Ridley Scott’s Prometheus was the runner-up, with $20.2 million.

Rock of Ages, an all-star adaptation of the hit musical, opened in third place, collecting $15.1 million.  That’s My Boy finished in fifth place, with $13 million.

Here are the top 10 movies from Friday through Sunday, with estimated ticket sales:
