Chargers’ Mathews Breaks Collarbone
Published at(SAN DIEGO) — San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews broke his collar bone on his first carry of the Chargers 21-13 preseason victory over the Green Bay Packers Thursday.
Chargers head coach Norv Turner announced Mathews will have surgery Friday and will be out for four to six weeks.
Mathews rushed for 1,091 yards and five touchdowns while catching 50 balls last season.
Ronnie Brown, Jackie Battle, Curtis Brinkley and fullback Le’Ron McClain will battle it out for Mathews carries.
