Andy Murray Wins The U.S. Open Men’s Title
Published at(NEW YORK) — Andy Murray defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic in five sets on Monday to win the U.S. Open men’s title. The 25-year-old Murray becomes the first British man to win a Grand Slam title since Fred Murray won the U.S. Championship in 1936.
Murray took the first two sets before Djokovic battled back to force a decisive fifth set, where Murray broke Djokovic’s first two serves. Murray went on to capture his first career Grand Slam title, 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2.
The match lasted 4 hours, 54 minutes, which ties for the longest U.S. Open finals.
