Rutgers Crushes Temple 35-10, Improves To 7-0
Published at(PHILADELPHIA) — The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (No. 15 BCS, No. 19 AP) used a strong second half to crush the Temple Owls 35-10 and improve to 7-0.
Quarterback Gary Nova threw four touchdown passes in the second half to help the undefeated Scarlet Knights overcome a 10-0 halftime deficit.
Runningback Jawan Jamison had another huge game, rushing for 114 yards and scoring on a 32-yard reception in the 3rd quarter.
The Scarlet Knights (7-0, 4-0 Big East) have outscored opponents 69-3 in the third quarter all season. They scored 35 points in 20 minutes to begin the second half.
First-year Head Coach Kyle Flood became the first coach to begin his tenure at Rutgers 7-0.
The defense made huge plays throughout the game, forcing an interception, a blocked punt, and two fumbles, one of which was returned 19-yards for a touchdown by linebacker Khaseem Greene.
Temple fell to 3-3 and 2-1 in the Big East with the loss.
The nation’s second-ranked rushing defense came into the game allowing just 60.8 yards-per-game. The Owls were the first team to top the 100 yards rushing against Rutgers this year. They finished with a total of 119.
Rutgers is 7-0 for the second time in the past six seasons and just the fifth time in the school’s 143-year history.
