Radioactive Waste Takes Longer to Clean Up
Published at | Updated atIDAHO FALLS – It may take longer than expected to complete the cleanup of high-level radioactive waste at the Idaho International Laboratory.
The Associated Press reports the U.S. Department of Energy is asking for more time after missing a September deadline.
The INL is currently storing the radioactive waste in tanks but plans to convert it into solids and remove it from the area.
