The Best Black Friday Freebies 2012
(NEW YORK) — To entice shoppers to come into stores for Black Friday deals, many stores are offering free products to the earliest of early birds, even on Thanksgiving Day.
Here is a list of some of the best free giveaways, compiled by deal sites Dealnews, About.com and ABC News.
Before you head to the stores for their giveaways, make sure you check your local listings for hours and giveaway exclusions.
Shoppers who arrive when the Florida department store’s doors open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday will receive a free Bealls Christmas 2012 tree ornament. The first 100 customers in line could also get either a 16GB WiFi tablet, a $100 gift card or $5 Bealls Bucks via a Bealls scratch-off card.
Customers in line on Nov. 22 from 8 p.m. to midnight Nov. 23 can tweet #InLineAtBestBuy for a chance to win more than $175,000 in prizes, including concert tickets, tickets to The X Factor finale or one of 2,000 Best Buy gift cards.
Shoppers who follow men’s custom suit maker Black Lapel on Twitter and retweet the company’s message on Black Friday with the hashtag #BlackLapelFriday could be eligible for several mystery gifts. These include custom suits, shirts, ties, pocket squares, cufflinks and e-gift cards ranging from $10 to $100.
About.com has observed 28 Black Friday freebies at CVS this year through rebates and the CVS Extra Care loyalty program. Freebies include Hershey’s king size chocolate bars, CVS Extra Care’s ExtraBucks and Breathe Right Nasal Strips.
Half Price Books
The first 100 customers to show up when the doors open at 7 a.m. will get a free tote bag and a free $5 gift card. One of those totes may contain an extra $100 gift card.
The department store is distributing free Christmas buttons with codes on the back that can be entered online for prizes such as vacations and other gifts.
Arts and crafts store Michaels will be handing out free Godiva chocolate bars to the first 100 customers.
The first customers who make a $40 purchase on Black Friday may get a New Super Mario Bros. U Game ($59.99 retail value) for the new Wii U home console.
Sam’s Club will be handing its members a free cup of Starbucks holiday blend coffee, along with a free Artisan Fresh pastry when it opens its doors at 7 a.m. on Black Friday. While you’re there, you can get a Samsung Galaxy S 3 for 96 cents with a two-year contract.
Seattle’s Best Coffee
Participating Seattle’s Best Coffee stores will be handing out free 12-ounce cups of coffee. Those who prefer to stay at home can have a free sample sent their house instead.
The first 80 people in line on Black Friday will get free Sports Authority Bonus Bucks, which are worth $10 to $500.
Staples is offering a handful of items that are free after rebate, including McAfee Internet Security 2013 for three computers, which retails for $69.99 but has a $16 instant rebate and $54 mail-in rebate.
Toys “R” Us
Toys “R” Us is offering a free bag of toys worth more than $30 for the first 200 families when the store opens at 8 p.m. on Thursday night. The bag includes toys from Lego, Crayola and Disney Jr.
