(NEW YORK) — Longtime Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema has accepted the vacant coaching position at Arkansas, according to ESPN.
The 42-year-old Bielema has coached at Wisconsin for the past seven seasons and went 68-24. They went 8-5 this season but won the Big 10 and are playing in their third consecutive Rose Bowl next month against Stanford.
Wisconsin has not yet announced whether Bielema will coach the Badgers in that game.
Bielema will take over an Arkansas program that is still recovering from the controversial firing of former coach Bobby Petrino. He was fired this past April.
John L. Smith was tabbed the interim head coach following Petrino’s firing, but the team went just 4-8 this season after being in the top 10 at the beginning of the year. They missed a bowl game for the first time since 2008.
