(NEW YORK) — Matt Damon has his own holiday traditions, and one of them is celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The Promised Land actor said on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Michael that because his wife is Argentinean, his family celebrates the holiday on Christmas Eve, because that’s what they do in her country.
“I always [celebrated] Christmas morning,” the 42-year-old actor told co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan. “You wake up and Santa Claus came.” But since they celebrate on Christmas Eve now, he laughs, “I can’t quite explain to the kids how, during dinner, Santa Claus came in the other room and put all the presents down.”
Damon, who is a father to four daughters, also shared his New Year’s resolution. “It’s usually the same. I just try to be a better dad and a better husband,” he said.
Promised Land hit theaters on Dec. 28.
