“I was just like a pathological liar when I was a kid.  I was just always lying about everything.  I think it was like partly, I wanted to one-up somebody,” Lawrence told Letterman.

The actress recalled, “Somebody would be like, ‘God, my leg hurts.’  And I’d be like, ‘Your legs hurts?  I’m getting mine amputated next week.’  And that’s actually how my mother found out, she came to my school and somebody was like, ‘God, that’s such a shame about Jennifer’s leg!'”

The 22-year-old said her mom made her “purge” all the lies she told.  Lawrence now says she’s a terrible liar.

The star also set the record straight about her Globes acceptance speech.  Not many realized Lawrence was referencing a popular movie when she held up her trophy saying, “I beat Meryl!,” misinterpreting it as a dig against Meryl Streep, who was among her Best Actress competition.

Even a certain troubled starlet was quick to take to Twitter to diss Lawrence, saying she shouldn’t have poked fun at Streep.

“It was a quote from First Wives Club!” Lawrence told Letterman.  “[First Wives Club star] Bette Midler was talking about a globe…[and] says, ‘Look what it says, it says, ‘I beat Meryl!’…And it was so perfect…I can’t believe nobody’s ever done it before.”

Lawrence then quipped, “I said it, and I had no idea that Lindsay Lohan would take to the Twitterverse,” referring to Lohan’s snipe following the Golden Globes show, “…no1 should ever mess with a legend, such as Meryl Streep.”

The Hunger Games series star will host the Jan. 19 installment of Saturday Night Live, which is the show’s 2013 season debut.
