However, all the project has been able to produce to date is rumors — but a new one, if true, could mean a major boost to the potential franchise.

The well-connected geek site Latino Review is trumpeting that the studio is placing control of Justice League into the hands of Christopher Nolan, who directed WB’s billion-dollar Dark Knight trilogy, and that Nolan and Zack Snyder, who produced and directed, respectively, the upcoming Superman flick Man of Steel, will get their stars Christian Bale and Henry Cavill back to reprise their superhero roles.

What seems to have cleared the creative logjam with Justice League is studio reaction to Man of Steel — rumor has it the studio liked it so much it nixed a JL script in favor of the Snyder/Nolan take on Superman. Latino Review says the studio feels it has a can’t-lose formula if it can pair Bale’s Batman and Cavill’s Superman as a base for its team-up movie. The team’s usual lineup also includes Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, the green-skinned Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern, who was played by Ryan Reynolds in a poorly received 2011 film.

This new Justice League rumor has yet to be confirmed, but it’s possible: Bale has said he’d only play the Caped Crusader again if Nolan is on board.
