“Jack the Giant Slayer,” “21 & Over,” and More Open Friday
Published at(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide on Friday:
— Jack the Giant Slayer: Based on the legendary fairy tale, Nicholas Hoult plays the titular character, who leads a battle against a race of giants. Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor also star in this Bryan Singer-directed film, which is screening in 3D. Rated PG-13.
— 21 & Over: With his medical school interview just hours away, a college student has a raucous 21st-birthday celebration with his two best friends. This comedy was written by the same people who penned The Hangover. Miles Teller, Skylar Astin and Justin Chon star. Rated R.
— The Last Exorcism Part II: In the sequel to the 2010 horror flick, Ashley Bell’s Nell continues to be terrorized by the evil force that haunted her in the past. Rated PG-13.
— Phantom: The thriller, set during the Cold War, stars Ed Harris as a captain of a Soviet missile submarine involved in a high-risk mission, with the odds stacked against him. David Duchovny and William Fichtner also star. Rated R.
