(UCON, ID) – Construction on the Cives Steel manufacturing plant is getting closure to completion every day, but some Ucon residents are worried that the town is getting short-changed when it comes to taxing the company. Idaho’s tax code allows companies like Cives to receive a tax exemption for up to five years. Neighbor Stephanie Streeper says the city will struggle to make ends meet if revenue isn’t collected. State officials say money saved through tax breaks now will likely be paid off on a long term basis.
