2 1/2 Mile Fire Still Active

(CHUBBUCK, ID) – Dozens of firefighters, trucks, and aircraft are battling the 2 1/2 Mile Fire in the hills east of Chubbuck. The blaze had destroyed nearly 1,100 acres as of Monday night. Officials had hoped to contain the flames by 8 p.m., but after strong winds hit the area Monday afternoon, crews are unsure when the fire will be put out. One home was evacuated, though no structures have been burned. One firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion
