Fans of the former half-term Alaska governor think it has a nice ring to it, and on Tuesday, the Republican Tea Party darling didn’t discount the possibility that she might seek the GOP nomination in 2014 to face Alaska Democratic Sen. Mark Begich.

Interviewed on Sean Hannity’s syndicated radio program, Palin acknowledged, “I’ve considered it because people have requested me [to] consider it.”

She said the party needs “new blood, new energy.”

Already, Joe Miller, who unsuccessfully tried to unseat Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski a few years ago, has said he wants a chance to face Begich.  However, some Alaska party regulars are concerned that he’s not strong enough to defeat the incumbent.  Palin might be another story, although her sudden departure from the governor’s mansion in 2009 angered many who voted for her.

Even if Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, doesn’t run for the Senate, she’s insistent that Begich has to go, contending that he’s fallen down on the job of energy development — which Alaskans regard as the state’s most important issue — because he listens too much to the Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill.
