(TAMPA) — Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis is expected to start the season opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 8.
Revis spent the offseason recovering from a torn ACL and was traded to Tampa by the Jets.
“Barring no setbacks, the plan is for CB Darrelle Revis to play in the season opener against the Jets,” the Buccaneers tweeted on Friday.
The four-time Pro Bowler has 19 interceptions in 79 career games and has been practicing without a knee brace.
“I think I’m just going to try to be myself and prepare like I do for every week,” Revis told The Tampa Bay Times recently. “But I think the big moment will be going there and right before game time, and being there, and running out of the tunnel and all that kind of thing. That will be totally different.”
