The 29-year-old Grabovski is expected to compete for the second-line center position, replacing Mike Ribeiro.  Ribeiro left the team to sign with the Phoenix Coyotes earlier this offseason.

Grabovski was bought out of his contract by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played for Toronto the past five seasons.

Grabovski only had nine goals and seven assists last season after posting career-highs of 29 goals and 29 assists in 2010-11.

The Capitals hope that Grabovski can have a productive season and contribute to the second-line.
