Cleveland Indians Designate Mark Reynolds for Assignment
Published at(CLEVELAND) –The Cleveland Indians designated infielder Mark Reynolds for assignment on Thursday.
After spending the previous two seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, Reynolds signed a one-year contract worth $6 million with Cleveland in December.
In 99 games with the Indians, the 30-year-old batted just .215 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. He struck out 123 times in 335 at-bats and hit just two homers since May.
The Indians called up reliever Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Columbus to take Reynolds’ roster spot.
