The New York Yankees shortstop will miss the next two games against the San Diego Padres with lingering quad and calf injuries, according to manager Joe Girardi.

“He’s coming back from a leg injury and I’m not so sure it’s 100 percent,” Girardi said. “He’s trying to grind through it for us.”

Jeter has only played in five games this season for the Yankees.  He had missed the first 91 games of the 2013 season after breaking his ankle in the 2012 ALCS, then re-injured it in April during his rehabilitation.

Girardi says that he expects to have Jeter back in the lineup for Monday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
