New Details Emerge About Medical Scare Aboard United Flight
Published at | Updated at(BOISE, Idaho) — New details have emerged Friday a United Airlines flight from Houston to Seattle that was forced to make an emergency landing when the plane’s captain fell ill.
During the mid-flight medical scare on United flight 1603, 63-year-old pilot, Capt. Henry Skillern, suffered a heart attack, causing Skillern’s co-pilot to call in to air-traffic control the flight’s emergency landing in Boise, Idaho. The flight crew, meanwhile, searched among the 161 passengers looking for a doctor.
Two Army physicians who had worked at an Army medical center, were onboard and attempted to perform CPR on Skillern. An off-duty pilot also helped to land the plane.
Skillern, who had worked with United for 26 years, later died at the hospital.
