Oracle Team USA Wins the America’s Cup

iStock/Thinkstock(SAN FRANCISCO) — Oracle Team USA outlasted Emirates Team New Zealand in a winner-take all race on Wednesday, to retain the America’s Cup. Team USA won the race by 44 seconds and the series 9-8.
After losing the first 8 of 11 races, Skipper Jimmy Spithill and his crew won the next eight, completing the remarkable comeback. Oracle Team USA faced an uphill battle early in the series, when they were docked two points for illegally modifying boats in warmup regattas.
Oracle Team USA is owned by software billionaire Larry Ellison.
