NJ Supreme Court: Same-Sex Marriages Can Start Monday
Published at(TRENTON, N.J.) — As of Monday same sex couples in New Jersey will be able to marry.
The New Jersey Supreme Court on Friday denied Gov. Chris Christie’s request to stay a court order allowing same sex marriages.
In a statement Friday, Christie’s press secretary Michael Drewniak said, “the Governor firmly believes that this determination should be made by all the people of the State of New Jersey, he has instructed the Department of Health to cooperate with all municipalities in effectuating the order of the Superior Court under the applicable law.”
While the motion to stay was denied, a ruling on the case itself is still to be decided.
