Leon Halip/Getty Images(ALLEN PARK, Mich.) — The Detroit Lions fired head coach Jim Schwartz on Monday. In five seasons roaming the sidelines in the Motor City, he compiled a record of 29-51.

The Lions hired Schwartz in 2009 from the Tennessee Titans, where he was the defensive coordinator. He took over a team that went an NFL worst 0-16 the previous season.

Schwartz led Detroit to the post-season in 2011 after finishing the season at 10-6. They lost to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card Round, 45-28.

The Lions began this season 6-3 before finishing 7-9.
