Paul Ryan, Hillary Clinton Viewed Favorably in Iowa Poll

U.S. Congressman Paul Ryan(WASHINGTON) — A new poll of Iowa voters shows Republican Congressman Paul Ryan holding a big lead in popularity among voters in the 2016 presidential race.
Ryan, who was Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012, has a 73 percent favorability rating among Iowa Republicans, according to the Des Moines Register poll. Trailing Ryan are former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (66 percent), former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum (58 percent), and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (55 percent). Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are tied for fifth in the Register poll — viewed favorably by 51 percent of Republicans.
Hillary Clinton scored 89 percent favorability among likely Democratic voters, according the Des Moines Register poll. But a majority of Iowa Republicans (59 percent) said they have a “very unfavorable” view of the former U.S. secretary of state.
The poll, conducted from Dec. 8-11, is based on interviews with 650 Iowans ages 18 or older. The margins of error are plus or minus 7.3 percent for Republicans and plus or minus 8 percent for Democrats.
