(OLYMPIA, WA) – The Washington Supreme Court has rejected a petition to release a death row inmate who killed a 12-year-old Pocatello girl in 1988. Jonathan Gentry was convicted in 1991 for the murder of Cassie Holden in Bremerton, Washington. Holden was visiting her mother, who lived there at the time. Gentry, who is black, claims racial prejudice tainted the prosecution’s case against him. State officials, however, determined that Gentry failed to provide evidence of racial bias.
