Arizona Forward Brandon Ashley Done for the Year
Published at(NEW YORK) — Not only did the Arizona Wildcats lose their first game of the season over the weekend, but they’ve also lost one of their most productive players as forward Brandon Ashley will miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury.
“Last night, early in our Cal game, Brandon Ashley suffered a foot injury that will end his season,” Arizona head coach Sean Miller said on Saturday. “While we’re all disappointed, we are also aware that Brandon needs our support and positive energy surrounding him. …This adversity will ultimately make Brandon and our team stronger moving forward.
Ashley suffered the injury just three minutes into the team’s game against California when he landed awkwardly after coming down for a rebound on his own shot.
Ashley was one of the leading members of the top-ranked Wildcats. The sophomore forward was averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Big man Matt Korcheck, who’s seen limited action this season, is expected to get an increase in playing time.
