So Orioles manager Buck Showalter gave him a homework assignment: write a one-page report on Robinson.

“I said, you go home, you research it and you come back tomorrow and have it on my desk,” Showalter said, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Robinson enjoyed a tremendous 21-year career in Major League Baseball from 1956-1976. During that span, he hit 586 home runs, drove in 1,812 runs, and had a career batting average of .294.

Hart, a 2013 supplemental pick, was more than happy to complete his assignment.

“I knew he was a Hall of Famer, but specifically, I didn’t know about him, but I did my research and he’s accomplished a lot,” Hart said, according to the Mid-Atlantic Sports website. “To be a manager and player at the same time, a 14-time All-Star, win Most Valuable Player in the National League and American League, that’s an accomplishment. That’s walking proof that he’s legendary.”

The assignment stemmed from when Robinson made a recent spring-training appearance, and Hart mentioned to Showalter he didn’t know who he was.
