Towanda Braxton Explains Feud with Tamar Braxton & Her Public Breakdown

Courtesy of WeTV(NEW YORK) — It’s no secret that Tamar Braxton and her older sister, Towanda, haven’t been getting along. From comments made on social media to the reality show cameras detailing what seems like a fight that won’t end, these two Braxton sisters have been going through it. And fans can watch every moment of it on the forthcoming fourth season of We TV’s hit reality show, Braxton Family Values.

In a sneak peek released last month, viewers saw Towanda have an epic meltdown after Tamar storms out of a high end restaurant, with the usually level-headed sister smashing glasses and destroying a table.

Towanda tells ABC News Radio that the feud started because she couldn’t believe viewers thought she was jealous of her baby sister last season.

“I detested the fact that everybody thought, or everybody was feeling that Towanda was jealous of Tamar. I’m like ‘how dare you think that someone who actually volunteered to carry your child to be jealous?’ That’s ridiculous to me,” she explains. “And whenever Tamar needed, and whenever Tamar wanted me to be there, I was there.”

Their sister Trina has her own explanation on what started the tension. She says, “That whole thing stemmed from one of Tamar’s Tamartians telling Towanda that she hopes her kids get raped and killed [on Twitter]. Do you understand what I’m saying? So of course there’s a certain retaliation that wells up in you when you talk about somebody’s children.”

Still, Towanda says she eventually broke down because she has been keeping her true feelings hidden for so long. “I couldn’t be emotional. I couldn’t let everybody know how I was really feeling because as soon as I do there’s always a [back]lash. So I suppressed every time,” the mother of two explains. “I think there was only one other time — maybe not that big — I had lashed out and that’s, like Trina said, that’s when someone talked about my children. But when we were sitting together as a family I just felt that I wasn’t being heard, and it was a long time coming.”

Trina was also in the room when Towanda broke down, even crying her own tears at the site of her sister. “I’ve never seen Towanda, in all of the years that we’ve been alive, I’ve never seen her blow up like that in my life,” she says. “No matter how much we argue, no matter how much we fuss, no matter how much we fight, when one hurts we hurt too.”

Although the season starts off with all of the Braxton sisters — Towanda, Trina, Tamar, Toni and Traci — discussing recording an album together, because of the tension the project may be off the table right now.

“The only thing that I can say about the Braxton girls actually completing something together is…(whistles),” Towanda says flatly.

“Prior to Braxton Family Values, people were like, ‘OK. When are the Braxton sisters going to do a record or an album or something together?’ And then it seemed more possible when we were doing Braxton Family Values,” Trina adds. “But now that we’re going through tumultuous situations with our sisterhood, and our sistership, and trying to build, and rebuild, and build parameters, it’s becoming a difficult feat.”
