Wall Street Continues Climb, Labor Department Notes Positive State Unemployment Data

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 44.02 to 17822.17.

The Nasdaq climbed 20.91 to 4769.31, while the S&P 500 closed at 2072.05, up 10.82 from its opening price.

On Friday, the Labor Department released data on state unemployment rates for November, noting that 41 states and the District of Columbia saw their unemployment rates decrease from October, while just three states saw increases in unemployment. The largest improvement came in Illinois where the unemployment rate dropped 2.6 points.
