All seven cases, however, as well as two cases of measles in Utah and three California residents suspected of having measles, reported having visited Disneyland or Disney California Adventure Park sometime between December 15, 2014 and December 20, 2014.

Dr. Pamela Hymel, chief medical officer for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said Wednesday that the park is “working with the health department to provide any information and assistance we can.”

The California Department of Health notes that while measles has been eliminated in the U.S. since 2000, outbreaks elsewhere — which have occurred in Western Europe, Pakistan, Vietnam and the Philippines — can see the disease brought back within American borders. That could be especially true in a location like Disneyland, where international travelers may visit.

The CDH is urging anyone who thinks they may have been exposed to contact a doctor. Symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and, within a few days, a red rash, usually beginning on the face.
