Dow Closes Up on First Day of Trading in 2015
Published at(NEW YORK) — A late session rally pushed the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory on the first trading day of 2015.
The Dow went up 9.92 points closing at 17,832.99. The Nasdaq fell 9.24 points to 4,726.81, while the S&P 500 lost .70, ending the day at 2,058.20.
The world’s fifth largest-automaker is downshifting its expectations for the coming year. Hyundai and its affiliate Kia are predicting they’ll sell a combined 8. 2 million vehicles this year– an increase of just 2 and a half percent over last year. The company says competition is stronger and the global economy’s slowing.
