A federal judge on Tuesday denied McDonnell’s request for bond. He is scheduled to report to prison on Feb. 9.

Last week, McDonnell, 60, was sentenced to two years in federal prison after being found guilty last September of multiple corruption charges that included conspiracy, bribery and extortion.

Prosecutors had sought a 10-year prison sentence while McDonnell’s attorneys asked the court for three years of community service.

His wife, Maureen McDonnell — who will be sentenced next month — was found guilty of eight of 13 counts while the former governor was convicted on 11 charges.
