Wall Street Posts Gains on Strength of Stabilizing Oil Prices and Positive Jobs Report

tarabird/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street bounced back from a pair of losing days to start the week with Wednesday’s gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 212.88, finishing the session at 17,584.52.

The Nasdaq jumped 57.73 to 4,650.47, while the S&P 500 closed at 2,025.90, up 23.29 from the beginning of Wednesday’s trading.

Oil prices began to steady on Wednesday after two straight days of plunging prices.

Also on Wednesday, payroll processor ADP announced that 241,000 jobs were added in December. The previous month saw just 227,000 jobs added.
