The company’s account began posting a series of tweets at about 2 a.m., many of which included expletives and racial or homophobic slurs. Others said the food was poisoned and that all the restaurants would be closed on Dec. 31, 2015.

The profile image for the account was also changed to a swastika.

The hacker identified himself as @TUGSFeds in some of the tweets. At times, he tagged other users and used hashtags in the posts.

Despite the tweets’ content, model Chrissy Teigen made light of the situation.

By 3:25 a.m., it seemed Chipotle had reestablished control of its Twitter account. All tweets made by the apparent hacker were deleted.

A few hours later, Chipotle apologized for the “offensive messages.”
