IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls City Council appointed a new city clerk Thursday.

Kathy Hampton, the city’s deputy clerk, will replace City Clerk Rosemarie Anderson effective April 5, according to a city news release.

Anderson announced her retirement earlier this year. She has worked for the city of Idaho Falls in various capacities for 31 years.

“Rose was instrumental with assisting in the organization of the Historic Preservation District, as well as many departmental filing systems throughout the city,” Municipal Services Director Craig Rockwood said in a news release.

Hampton has worked for the city since April 2007. She is completing her training through the Association of Idaho Cities and Boise State University to become a Certified Municipal Clerk.

Last September, she was awarded one of the Mayor’s “Above & Beyond” employee recognition awards for her exemplary service to the city.
