Magnitude 6.3 Earthquake Strikes Western Argentina
Published at(CORDOBA, Argentina) — A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck in western Argentina on Monday morning.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck southwest of Cordoba and about 54 miles northwest of the city of La Punta.
Monday’s tremor was centered about 107 miles underground, though the USGS notes that “most of the large earthquakes in south America are constrained to shallow depths of 0 to 70 km.”
It was not immediately clear whether there were any injuries, deaths or significant property damage caused by the earthquake.
