Cyber Caliphate posted tweets such as “You’ll see no mercy infidels” with the image of a masked man making threats.

The hackers also suggested that Valentine’s Day would be bloody, and threatened President Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters.

Although Newsweek’s Twitter site was compromised for under 15 minutes, the magazine said it was comparable to identity theft on a grand scale. The site has 2.15 million followers.

The same group has also claimed responsibility for similar hacks against U.S. Central Command as well as other media organizations.
