Obama Meets with Democratic Governors Association

Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — President Obama met with the Democratic Governors Association on Friday night, thanking the governors for the work they have done.
Obama joked in his remarks that Hawaii Gov. David Ige “does not know what to do with this weather,” referring to the snow, wind and ice hitting much of the country this weekend.
Obama congratulated the governors in the room who advanced measures to raise the minimum wage in their states. Much of the discussion focused on that issue, as well as the importance of making a college education available to more young people and offering sick leave to employees.
“Governors can’t afford to just peddle an ideology,” the president said Friday night. “They’ve got to actually make things work on behalf of their constituencies and this is where a lot of the rubber hits the road.”
