“SpongeBob” Soaks Up Money, Tops Box Office

Paramount Pictures(NEW YORK) — Thanks in part to a pair of box office busts, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water won the box office this weekend, overtaking American Sniper.
The SpongeBob film opened alongside Jupiter Ascending and Seventh Son, which finished in third and fourth place respectively. American Sniper, slipped to second place.
The animated film, the second SpongeBob movie, screened in 3D.
