Maryland State Police said Sunday afternoon that two men — one believed to be in his 50s and the other thought to be in his 80s — were injured in the crash but no one on the ground was hurt. Both men were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

The plane had reportedly taken off from nearby Tipton Airport. State police said the airport was just “a few hundred yards” from the site of the crash. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

Both of the people injured in the crash were conscious and alert, Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Russ Davies said.
