Wall Street Closes Week with Gains, S&P Closes at All-Time High

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street closed the week on a positive note with a Friday session that saw the market rally from early losses to post gains.
The Dow Jones gained 46.97 to a close of 18019.35.
The Nasdaq finished at 4893.84, a climb of 36.23, while the S&P 500 closed at a record 2096.99, up 8.51 from its open.
Health insurer Anthem said Friday that it will offer two years of free credit monitoring and identity-theft repair after about 80 million customers had their information compromised when hackers got into the company’s database.
Apple CEO Tim Cook attended a White House summit in Palo Alto, Calif. on Friday, discussing the company’s Apple Pay system, which received the White House’s approval. Numerous tech names, however, including Yahoo’s Marissa Meyer, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google’s Eric Schmidt did not attend the summit, according to Bloomberg News. Those companies instead sent security executives in their stead.
