Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake Detected Southwest of Alaska

allanswart/iStock/Thinkstock(JUNEAU, Alaska) — A magnitude 5.7 earthquake was reported southwest of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands on Saturday morning.
The quake hit about 121 miles south-southeast of the city of Atka, and nearly 1,200 miles west-southwest of Achorage.
The National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska said that despite the quake, there was no risk of tsunami. The quake was centered 21 miles below the surface.
