Spring Air Travel to Rise to Seven-Year High, Group Predicts

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Get ready for packed planes if you’re planning to fly this spring.

Airlines For America predicts 134.8 million passengers will take to the skies on U.S. airlines between March 1 and April 30. That amounts to 2.2 million passengers per day and marks the highest level in seven years.

Travelers can thank the improving economy for the potentially longer lines and crammed overhead bins.

In response, airlines are increasing the number of available seats, but only by 3 percent, according to the industry group.
