The organizers from Tehran University and religious seminaries had called on followers to show up en masse at the Iranian parliament to express their disgust with President Hassan Rouhani’s concessions to Iran’s avowed enemies.

However, unlike other demonstrations to register hatred for the U.S., only about 100 people turned out to protest the nuclear deal that would lift economic sanctions in exchange for limiting uranium enrichment while allowing robust inspections.

Adding insult to injury, the protesters were also taunted by some passersby who said they ought to give the negotiations a chance to work since no agreement will be finalized until June 30.

Ironically, demonstrations in favor of a nuclear deal have been much larger, an indication that ordinary Iranians are tired of living under sanctions that have crippled their economy.
