An ABC Radio source previously confirmed that Depp injured his hand about a month ago in Australia, where he’s filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He was expected to undergo surgery in the United States.

The Hollywood Reporter now says that shooting has been halted until around April 15. The delay was initially expected to last two weeks.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, about half of the film’s estimated 400 crew members were told last Thursday there would be no more work for at least two weeks.

A spokesman for the film tells The Hollywood Reporter the resumption of filming depends on Depp’s recuperation. Approximately 14 weeks of shooting remain on the production.

Depp will reprise his role of Jack Sparrow in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, which is still scheduled to be released by Disney on July 7, 2017.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.
