Two Turkish Journalists in Hot Water over Publication of Cartoon
Published at(ISTANBUL) — Two Turkish journalists are facing significant prison time for publishing a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed.
The journalists are with a leading Turkish newspaper that published images from the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which was attacked earlier this year.
Turkey’s prime minister called the publication of the image a “provocation,” and said they could spend up to four-and-half years behind bars.
The ruling Justice and Development Party is founded on conservation Sunni Muslim principles, condemning any perceived insult against its faith.
