Under Armour Apologizes for ‘Band of Ballers’ Design

Under Armour(NEW YORK) — Under Armour is now apologizing for a t-shirt design called, “Band of Ballers,” resembling the iconic picture of the flag raising at Iwo Jima.
The famous Associated Press photo has servicemen raising a flag at Iwo Jima during World War II, but the company’s own design substituted the flag for a basketball hoop and the servicemen for basketball players.
Under Armour apologized on Twitter with three separate tweets after critics took to social media to accuse the company of being disrespectful to veterans.
“We deeply regret and apologize the release of a shirt that is not reflective of our commitment to support and honor our country’s heroes,” Under Armour said in one tweet.
In another tweet the company said they were working to stop the sale of the shirt and wanted to “ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
“Under Armour has the utmost respect and admiration for active duty service men and women and veterans who have served our country,” said the company in a tweet.
