IDAHO FALLS – Thousands gathered at Riverbend Ranch Saturday for the annual Melaleuca summer picnic.

Every July, employees, their spouses and children are treated to a big party complete with blow-up toys, pony rides, a kids carnival, games, lunch and unlimited treats. The highlight of the picnic is when someone in a helicopter drops ping-pong balls from the sky. Everybody who gets a ball receives a prize.

And speaking of prizes – there was a lot of them. TVs, iPad minis, yard furniture and dozens of other items were given away. Three grand prize winners went home with a trip to Disneyland, Orlando or Washington D.C.

Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot said he throws the party every year to thank his employees. He also wants to help them get to know each other.

Employees said the summer picnic is always a highlight of the year.
