IDAHO FALLS — A Rexburg-area man was found dead in his car at KJ’s Truck Stop on Friday evening.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 615 E. Iona Road for a reported cardiac arrest at 6:20 p.m. An employee at KJ’s Truck Stop called police and alerted them to the body, Sgt. Jared Hurt said Saturday.

Authorities determined the 63-year-old man had been deceased for at least several days. Aerial photos of the scene show the deceased’s red vehicle parked near several semi-trucks in the parking lot. It is unclear why the body was not found earlier.

The cause of death is unknown, Hurt said.

Authorities are not releasing the identify of the man, pending notification of the family. Hurt said the man had not been reported missing.

The Bonneville County Coroner’s office removed the body from the scene and will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death.
